(Sanxikou) Process Waste Heat utilization for power generation at Phillips Carbon Black Limited, Gujarat
Description: The project activity involves the generation of electricity by utilizing process flue gases from carbon black manufacturing, such as fuel.
The power generation process involves recovery and utilization of the thermal energy of the process waste gas (i.e. tail gas) being produced from the carbon black manufacturing process, which was earlier getting lost in the atmosphere in the form of waste heat. This waste heat/gas is utilized to generate steam which in turn is used to generate electrical energy.
The excess electricity available after meeting the in-house power demand of Phillips Carbon Black
Limited (PCBL) plant, is exported to the GEB (Gujarat Electricity Board) grid. The project activity
results in a positive contribution to sustainable economic growth, conservation of natural resources,
environment and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction.
