Fuel Switching Project in the Brazilian Caatinga biome, Alagoas (Bandeira & Capelli Ceramics)

Description: This project is composed by two small ceramic facilities; Bandeira and Capelli. Situated in the Capela municipality, in the state of Alagoas, both companies manufacture red ceramic products such as bricks and roof tiles. The ceramic facilities were pioneers in ceasing the use of wood from Caatinga, and instead switching to renewable biomass, such as bamboo, coconut husk, sawdust and sugar cane bagasse, as alternative fuels for the kilns.
