The SMRC's Waste Composting Facility

Description: The waste composting facility diverts from landfill the household rubbish of more than 350,000 residents of Perth's southern metropolitan suburbs. When the disposal of organic matter to landfill is avoided by composting, methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, emissions are abated. It is the net difference in emissions between landfilling and composting that gives the SMRC its carbon abatement.
